Occasionally I like to write non-fashion/footwear posts. If this one's not for you then sorry - but there is more to me than just a fabulous wardrobe and a fierce as hell shoe collection! It's nice to discuss other facets of my personality and tastes, and I thought I'd write a post covering some upcoming games and how I spend a fair amount of my spare time when I'm not working, blogging or travelling.

I know I'm not by any stretch of the imagination the only gaming Mum / girly gamer out there, but it's still a part of the market that is largely untapped in terms of marketing and promotion. It's a shame. We don't all just play a bit of Animal Crossing every now and then. I get excited about peripherals, own every next gen console (on release in fact) and love going to sites like Gameseek to grab my next gaming fix. There is more to girl gaming than just posing with a headset on and our cleavage out. And I love game streams - there's no hate here. Gaming is and should be for everyone.

So if you have a gaming Mum to shop for this weekend or for an upcoming birthday, and you know that flowers & chocolates are just not going to cut it, why not grab one of my recommendations below (yes there are some pre-orders on there - but just write it in her card and hear any gaming Mum squeal)!

Final Fantasy Type-O HD

I'm a huge FF fan (and yes I am STILL waiting on FFXIV EU servers, thanks SE), so this is a super exciting game due for release this month.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, is to be released worldwide in March 2015. Type-0 is part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis subseries, a set of games sharing a common mythos which includes Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XV. The gameplay is reminiscent of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, with the player taking direct control of characters and taking them on missions and large-scale battles. Outside of the graphical improvements, the HD version is largely identical to the original PSP version, although the original's multiplayer functionality was dropped, and additional difficulty levels were implemented.

The story focuses on Class Zero, a group of twelve students from the Vermillion Peristylium, a magical academy in the Dominion of Rubrum. One day, the Militesi Empire launches an assault on the other Crystal States of Orience, seeking to control their respective crystals. When Rubrum is attacked, Class Zero are called into action and become entangled in both the efforts to push back and defeat the forces of Militesi, and the secret behind the war and the existence of the crystals. The setting and presentation were inspired by historical documentaries, and the story itself was written to be darker than other Final Fantasy titles.



Mortal Kombat X

Who doesn't love MK? The videos I've seen so far have been full of amazing fatalities and brutalities, and I have had this on pre-order for months. Literally. I cannot wait to get my hands on this one.

Mortal Kombat X (pronounced as "ex", not "10") is an upcoming fighting video game currently in development by NetherRealm Studios. It is the tenth main title in the Mortal Kombat series, with a release scheduled for April 14, 2015. The game is being developed for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will be ported to Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by High Voltage Software. A mobile version for iOS and Android devices is being developed by NetherRealm's mobile team.



Witcher 3

I've observed rather than played the former 2 Witcher titles, and they are so freaking beautiful. It's time for me to get my hands dirty with this new title. Plus you don't have to have played the former titles, in case the series is new to you - so don't be scared and give it a try. You won't regret it.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Polish: Wiedźmin 3: Dziki Gon) is an upcoming action role-playing video game set in an open world environment, that is currently in development by Polish video game developer CD Projekt RED. It is scheduled to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 19, 2015. The game is still not officially confirmed for Linux or Mac OS, however it may be possible that the game will be released on these platforms at a later time. The game will be the third in the series, preceded by The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, which are based on the series of fantasy novels of the same title by the Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, but take place after them.
