SHOENIVERSE LOVES SPRING BLOOMS (Well, We Can Wish....) - The Best of the Pastels and Prints

Thursday's post is more of a moodboard than a look. The past few days (post floods here in the South) have actually had some gloriously sunny spells, and this started me thinking about Springtime...

(I realise I may well be getting ahead of myself here)

So here's a place to get started. I wouldn't for a moment suggest that you combine many of these pieces, but the Iro leather jacket would work with these or any other print dress. Also a chic simple tee and capris would look amazing paired with the jacket, bubblegum pink scarf and Charlotte Olympia Sweet Dolly shoes. I am so adoring of the 'candy necklace' strap. Super cute!

IT'S A BIT GREY OUT THERE But Your Clothes Needn't Feel Blue... aka The Cosy Warm Stylish Weekender

There is something so very comforting on a cold day to wear cosy clothes, but you still want to look good, right? So in an effort to address this, I thought I'd share my own personal style tips for keeping warm on cold commutes and weekend trips out.

Unless you are new to Shoeniverse, you will probably have picked up on my love affair with shades of grey. So my winter wardrobe is very much tones of black and grey with flashes of colour and lots of leather. I travel for my job and as such need to keep warm on the delights of public transport, but also want to not look like a polar bear wearing a million layers. My answer to this is simple layering and well fitted pieces with interesting draping. This was my inspiration for picking the pieces above. If you want to see all of my grey style picks then if you click the main image above you can browse them right now.

Everything from the Ash trainers to the goldsign leggings look cosy and comfortable, but without any great hassle to wear. There's stretch and movement, shoes are comfy to wear yet stylish, and then layer over a simple draped tank and a fluffy cashmere knit. Then throw on your choice of stylish bag. If it's really cold then add hat, gloves and scarf, preferably in something bright like cherry red or fuchsia, just to break up the colour a little.

I love this look and would happily wear it for work or to dress down at weekends. Infinitely more stylish that going grocery shopping in trackpants and a hoodie, yet no less comfortable and warm. You don't have to suffer for your style, but you will look a hundred times better than those who just throw on anything warm when the temperatures drop,

RED TUESDAY - My Pick of the Best Ruby and Scarlet Pieces for SS14

If Valentine's Day last week has left you all loved up with your heart a-flutter, then you might want to take a nod from the catwalks and invest in some red hot action this SS14.

Both dresses are on sale and are high street via ASOS - best of all this is a trend that you can wear to the office too and stand out from the 'suits and boots' brigade.

The bag is, of course, McQueen, and the heels are Saint Laurent. The little studs are from Mikey. Hopefully this will give you an indication of what's out there for the coming season and entice you to add a splash of red into your wardrobe. Also try bright hats, scarves, gloves and coats for additional ways to add a touch of 'scarlet woman' into your look.

BLACK MONDAY - My Personal Pick of The New Black Heels

I was tight on time and struggling for inspiration this week. It's already Sunday night as I type this, and usually I've queued up at least some, if not all, of the posts for the week ahead. I'm not slacking, but I was waiting for something to make me sit up and take notice. Inspiration dawned via the incredible Alexander McQueen cutout boots that you see in the picture above. They actually took my breath away. They are perfect.

In the spirit of thinking ahead of course, it's true to say that not everyone reading this post will have a McQueen sized wallet, and so I started to source some options for black heels for SS14. This is what I found. Do let me know in the comments if you love/hate any of them. It's always good to hear other opinions.

The top style on the right is Buttercup from Kurt Geiger, and is very much reminiscent of the recent Louboutin slings like 'June'. Simple and classic, well worth the investment if you have the cash to splash.

The middle shoes are my bargain find, and are from Aldo called 'Mercedes' - but are down to just £35 in the sale. I know, you might be 'over' spikes and studs already, but these cute platform ankle straps make my inner rock-chick sing with happiness. Plus they are super cheap and kind of trashy-chic. Who doesn't love a little bit of that?

The bottom heels are from Karen Millen and I've seen them in a nude colourway as well. The black satin makes them edgy yet formal. This pleases me. I am hoping they bring out some further SS14 styles with the 'Pigalle'-like Straight heel, especially if they plan to pair it with almond toes and luxury fabric finishes. That could get very interesting indeed.

So my inspiration for the week wound up being colour. Today was black.
