How to Style this amazing ALEXANDER MCQUEEN Red Multi Layer Silk Chiffon Dress

It will come as no surprise at all to long term readers of Shoeniverse that I was utterly thunderstruck by this beautiful gown. You could say it was love at first sight. It truly is a gown worthy of an Academy Award winning actress. And yes, it's from my beloved Alexander McQueen.


I often get distracted with red carpet events by the way they style the dresses, or more specifically by the shoes and accessories rather than the hair and makeup. So I thought I'd take one stunning dress and look at what could be added to finish off the look.

These two are my favourite - I'd probably take the Louboutins with the beige McQueen purse.

I am not sure that these sandals would actually be worn in the real world, but as a concept piece / artwork they are actually blooming amazing. I guess if you were Carrie Bradshaw you would get away with it, but that hinges heavily on the whole 'fictional character' premise. And even then she would probably have gotten some very odd looks along the way.


I do really like them though despite their total and utter complete impracticality. They are flirty and fun and I would definitely wear them. I would just need to figure out where. Red Carpet Ready footwear certainly, so maybe we might see something like this at the Oscars, but aside from that I don't think that these could ever be considered 'streetwear'.

MICHAEL ANTONIO STUDIO Arizona Wedges in Three Colours!

If you love wedges then these beautiful pumps from Michael Antonio Studio are sure to turn some heads. I do wish that there was a nude version, but for block colour goodness then there is probably a colour for everyone among the options available. I am leaning towards the red, but the bright blue is also really striking.

We have featured a version of these flats before - you might remember the suede & black spiked tor version from November 2012 - but I much prefer this new colourway that's available now at Saks.

They are very much like an edgier Chanel toecap flat and even though I would normally shy away from gold spikes, I do really like them here. What do you think?

Back before Shoeniverse was properly born there was a Tumblr called Shoeturn that we eventually evolved from. Back then I remember featuring the Dina style in red and black and thinking they were rather nice. In this watercolour finish though for Spring Summer I think they are even sweeter!
