I will begin this post with a confession. Not only did I almost overlook these as 'just another strappy sandal' - albeit one in a very pretty shade of soft emerald green - but had they not been labelled I would never have guessed these to be a Charlotte Olympia shoe. None of the signature details are on show here. There is no toppling skyscraper high heel. No golden inlaid platform. Yes we have a 'quirky' fetaure in the shape of the Eiffel Tower, but shown with such intense subtlety that you could almost miss it. I rather love the Queen of Whimsical CO, and am unsure if actually these are a little bit of a step back. They are really pretty, but do we actually want Christmas puddings and - dare I say it? - golden croissant embellishments instead?
Shockingly, I believe we do.
Having said all that, these do look really pretty when worn. I'd go as far as to say they are a great shoe. I just would hate to see Charlotte Olympia stop bringing me the unexpected.
